Build your Fanatec sim racing setup
A good Fanatec setup starts with the right combination, not simply the most powerful wheel base. Your platform, favourite racing discipline, mounting solution and upgrade plans all matter. At Sim Race Webshop, you can explore Fanatec wheel bases, steering wheels, pedals and accessories in one place, then choose the parts that work together for your racing.
Starting from scratch? Compare the bundles first. Upgrading an existing simulator? Identify the exact base, steering wheel and quick release you already own before adding another component. This guide helps you move from a brand name to a complete, considered shopping list.

First choose your platform: PC, PlayStation or Xbox
Fanatec compatibility is determined by the complete combination. PlayStation support depends on a PlayStation-licensed wheel base. Xbox support depends on an Xbox-licensed steering wheel used with a compatible base. A console logo on one item does not automatically make every possible setup compatible with that console.
Check the base, steering wheel, pedals, connection method and game before ordering. PC setups can offer more flexibility, but that does not remove the need to check individual components. For console use in particular, do not assume that a separately connected USB accessory will work as it does on a PC.
Choose a wheel base that suits your simulator
Browse the Fanatec wheel base range with your mounting position and budget in mind. Compare the CSL, ClubSport and Podium products currently listed, including the platform support, mounting requirements and supplied quick release of each model. Names alone are not enough: generations and package contents can differ.
Reserve part of your budget for pedals, a suitable steering wheel and secure mounting. A balanced setup is more useful than a powerful base paired with a moving chair or an unsuitable pedal mount. Choose a force-feedback level you can comfortably use rather than treating the highest available setting as the goal.
Match the steering wheel to the cars you drive
A round wheel is a practical starting point when you regularly switch between road cars, rallying and drifting. Formula-style and GT-style wheels are worth comparing when you prioritise accessible controls and a particular driving position. Look at diameter, grip shape, paddles, button placement and the information you actually want in front of you.
Explore Fanatec steering wheels and check both mechanical fit and electronic compatibility. A steering wheel and a wheel base are separate products unless the selected listing explicitly includes both.
Pedals and quick releases: the details that complete the build
When comparing Fanatec pedal sets, decide whether you need two pedals or three, how you want to mount them and which adjustments matter to you. Check the exact brake sensor, connection requirements and included parts instead of assuming that every set has the same features. Plan a stable seating position before selecting a very firm brake setting.
Quick releases need a compatible base-side and wheel-side combination. QR1 and QR2 are not interchangeable interfaces, and a base-side upgrade must be approved for your particular base. Read the compatibility information on the accessory listing; do not order by appearance alone.
Three sensible ways to build your Fanatec setup
Your first simulator: start with a platform-compatible Fanatec bundle, confirm the included pedals and mounting hardware, and allow room for a stand or cockpit.
A dedicated GT or formula setup: choose the wheel shape and controls you prefer, compare suitable direct drive bases, then choose pedals and a rigid mounting solution as part of the same project.
An upgrade to an existing rig: keep components that already meet your needs. Check whether a new wheel, a pedal upgrade or the correct quick release solves your main limitation before replacing everything.
Fanatec questions answered
Does every Fanatec product work on PlayStation?
No. Start with a PlayStation-licensed base, then verify the connected wheel, pedals and game. The compatibility wording on each product page matters.
Can I use a Fanatec wheel on Xbox?
Check for an Xbox-licensed steering wheel and a supported base combination. A PC-compatible wheel is not automatically Xbox-compatible.
Do I need to buy a cockpit immediately?
Not necessarily. A supported desk clamp or stand may suit your chosen equipment. Check the desk, clamp, base and pedals together. For a dedicated position, compare Next Level Racing cockpits and stands.
Is everything shown in a product photo included?
Only the items specified in the product's included-parts section are supplied. Seats, monitors, clamps and additional controls may be shown for illustration.
Where should I start when I am unsure?
Send us your platform, current equipment, available space and budget. Ask Sim Race Webshop about your Fanatec combination before placing the order.
